Music Videos for Singers
Samples of some of my services to Performers can be found HERE
Over the last 10 years more and more films have been lured away from Hollywood by states offering various financial incentives. The east-coast has seen a large increase in the number of film projects, and we have been fortunate that Virginia has been able to secure some of these. But there are a lot that are happening just far enough away to make it difficult to audition. There is a wealth of possible projects happening in places like Baltimore, Charlotte and Atlanta, but those represent 3, 4 and 8 hour drives respectively. Simply auditioning can be a huge time and money commitment. Fortunately more and more casting directors are looking outside their backyards as actors become more adept at self-taping and submitting themselves.
But while this has opened up the possibility of reaching a larger casting community, some performers are unaware of the bad impression that can be left if the technical quality of the taped audition is bad. Keep in mind that the first round of casting sessions often involve the casting director putting the talent on tape with no one from the production present. The casting director then submits those tapes to the client to see who will get a callback. The casting directors professionalism is reflected in the quality of the tapes that are submitted. Anything that looks amateurish or has bad lighting or sound reflects badly on them and they often will choose not to show it. So if you plan on submitting yourself, its worth it to have someone just looking after the technical side so you can focus on the acting.
I can put you on tape and provide a critical eye to make sure your audition is the best it can be. Each session is an hour in my studio and I will provide you with a finished video file that you can upload yourself or I can do it for you.
The cost for the hour is $30. You can provide your own reader or coach or I will read with you. I can also provide a teleprompter if you are in a rush and need the added security of having the lines in front of you. There is no extra charge for the teleprompter but you do need to email me your script in an editable format (WORD or Text but not PDF). For most that means typing it out.
Actors interested in doing film work at some point or another are going to need a reel. Unfortunately there is often an inherent prejudice against local performers by out-of-town directors. This isn’t always the case, but looking at it from their standpoint, they have a lot riding on every role they cast. They do not want to worry about a relatively unknown local performer not being up to the job. A good audition can get you looked at again, but often it might be the reel that shows them you CAN do the work.
Music Videos for Actor/Singers
If you are a singer or an actor who sings I am happy to help you create a short video that you can post or include in a reel. Contact me to discuss possibilities.
I will be conducting workshops as my schedule allows. Some of these will be geared for introducing actors to the challenges of working on film and some will focused on just giving actors a chance to practice and stretch themselves. Upcoming Workshops can be found HERE.
I am available for some private coaching for actors preparing for auditions or looking to create material for a reel. Cost is $30 per hour and I am happy to discuss option for what you may need.
